Example: UK Retailer with international distribution

A UK retailer sells fresh and frozen produce in both local stores and  International (Franchisee run) stores. The products are labelled in accordance with international food and beverage compliance regulations.

The retailer works with an international 3PL to manage its UK distribution centres including supply of products to its international distribution centres and stores.

The international stores are owned by local Franchise company's. In some countries the product information relating to compliance regulations such as Allergens and Nutrition’s must be relabelled with translated information in the local language.

The UK 3PL needs to provide a co-packing service to relabel and repack products. Each product requires a new label to be applied by the Co-Packing operator.

The International Franchisee takes responsibility for translating the product information and stores this information on a locally held database.  Approved Franchisee business users then create and integrate label templates and local data, as well as create a secure printing solution (using web services to connect to the local database) for the Co-Pack operator. 

Templates and printing solutions are electronic approved by both the Franchisee and the UK Retailer prior to release to ensure labelling meets all regulatory compliance standards.

Once approved the secure printing solution can be deployed via the internet to any Co-Pack operator in any 3PL distribution centres to print with any label printer required to print labels during the repacking process.
